Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (SMSIMSR) is a pioneering private medical college established in 2023 at Sathya Sai Grama, Muddenahalli, Chikkaballapur, Karnataka. Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 26, 2023, it is widely recognised as India's first medical college to offer completely free education, accommodation, food, and healthcare — irrespective of caste, creed, religion, or financial background. The college was founded by Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai under the aegis of Prashanthi Balamandira Trust and is a constituent college of Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence (SSSUHE). Guided by the vision 'In Rural – For Rural', the institute aims to nurture values-based medical professionals who will serve underserved rural communities. Located just 23 km from Bengaluru International Airport, near the historical Nandi Hills, the campus spans 325,000 sq. ft and houses an academic block and two attached teaching hospitals. The institute uniquely integrates para vidya (spiritual knowledge) with apara vidya (worldly knowledge), drawing on the ancient gurukulam tradition.
