Sri Venkateswaraa Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre (SVMCH&RC), located in Ariyur on the Puducherry–Villupuram National Highway, is a leading private medical institution established in 2007 by the Sri Ramachandra Educational Trust (SRET), Chennai. The college is affiliated to Pondicherry University and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, and the Government of Puducherry. Managed by the Sri Ramachandra Educational Trust under Chairman Shri B. The campus is situated in Ariyur, approximately 16 km from Pondicherry city centre, 17.5 km from Lawspet Airport (approximately 40 minutes drive), and is directly accessible from the Puducherry–Villupuram National Highway, ensuring excellent road connectivity. The campus spans 80 acres of well-maintained land, integrating quality medical education, advanced healthcare, and clinical research. Academic infrastructure includes 5 well-furnished, spacious gallery lecture halls each with 300-student seating capacity, air-conditioned seminar and demonstration halls for each department, a 2,000-seat auditorium, 3 separate examination halls with 250-student capacity each, halls equipped with the latest audio-visual aids (OHPs, LCD projectors, computers), computer labs, a central library stocked with medical books, journals, and e-resources, and dedicated research labs with an active research council and scientific society. The teaching hospital is a fully operational multi-specialty facility providing real-time clinical exposure to students. It is committed to providing complete medical services to patients and serves as the primary clinical training ground for all MBBS and PG students. Departments and specialty units cover all major medical and surgical disciplines. On-campus accommodation includes student hostels (separate for boys and girls), resident doctor quarters, staff quarters, and ground and sporting fields. SVMCH&RC offers 150 MBBS seats annually and 75 PG MD/MS seats across 19 departments. The MBBS fee is approximately ₹12,00,000–₹14,00,000 per year (official fee as per CENTAC/State Level Fee Determination Committee). Admissions are conducted through CENTAC (Centralised Admission Committee), Government of Puducherry for state quota and management/NRI seats. Three rounds of CENTAC counselling (Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up) plus a college-level fourth round are held annually. Scholarship support is substantial — in academic year 2021, 274 undergraduate students and 42 postgraduate students received financial reimbursements, reflecting the college's commitment to student accessibility.
