TGAMC Ballari is the only Government Ayurvedic Medical College in northern Karnataka, established in 1947 under the Taranath Ayurveda Vidyapeet private trust and taken over by the Government of Karnataka on 23rd July 1976. It is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore, and is approved by NCISM and CCIM, Ministry of AYUSH. It offers BAMS (60 seats) and MD/MS Ayurveda (31 seats) programmes.
Being a government college, the BAMS fees at TGAMC Ballari are highly subsidised. The approximate annual tuition fee is ₹25,000 per year, making the total course fee approximately ₹1,12,500 for 4.5 years. Hostel and mess charges are additional and nominal as per Government of Karnataka norms. TGAMC Ballari has an annual intake of 60 BAMS seats as approved by NCISM. Of these, 15% (9 seats approximately) are filled through AACCC-UG All India Quota counselling, and the remaining 85% (51 seats approximately) are filled through KEA Karnataka AYUSH NEET Counselling for Karnataka domicile candidates.
