University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) & Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, New Delhi, is one of India's premier government medical colleges, established in 1971 by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. A constituent college of the University of Delhi, UCMS is recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and affiliated with the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FMS), Delhi University. Situated on a sprawling 89-acre campus in Dilshad Garden, East Delhi — connected by the Delhi Metro — UCMS is associated with the Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, a 1,526-bedded tertiary care centre serving East Delhi and border areas with 22 Major and 7 Minor Operation Theatres, a Trauma Centre, Burns Ward, CT Scan, Neurosurgery, Haemo/Peritoneal Dialysis, and a Thalassaemia Day Care Centre. UCMS has an annual intake of 170 MBBS students and 185 PG students across 22 specializations, trained by a highly distinguished faculty with global recognition — UCMS faculty are listed on expert panels of UNICEF, WHO, UNAIDS, World Bank, ICMR, DST, and CSIR. UCMS ranks 7th nationally for PubMed-indexed research publications, was the first Indian medical college to establish a Medical Humanities Group, and organized India's first 'Theatre of the Oppressed' workshop for medical students in 2011. 3 AC lecture halls (capacity 180 each), 1 lecture hall (90 seats), AC examination hall (170 seats). Medical Skills Lab for CBME-aligned procedural training. Demonstration and common rooms. Smart classrooms with projectors and LCD screens.
