About Yenepoya Medical College
Yenepoya Medical College (YMC), Mangalore is a private minority medical institution established in 1999 by Mr. Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi under the Islamic Academy of Education trust. Located at Deralakatte, approximately 11 km from Mangalore city centre, the campus spans over 31 acres of serene surroundings. YMC is a constituent college of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), recognized by the UGC, and approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC). It is accredited with NAAC Grade A+ (2023) and the university is ranked 95th among universities in India by NIRF 2024. The college started with 100 MBBS seats in 1999, expanded to 150 in 2011, and currently admits 250 MBBS students annually. YMC conducts postgraduate (MD/MS) programs in 20+ departments and super-specialty (DM/MCh) courses. Its attached teaching hospital is a 910-bed multi-specialty facility with 80–90% average occupancy, serving 1,500+ outpatients daily and catering to the healthcare needs of Dakshina Kannada and Northern Kerala. YMC was notably the first college in Dakshina Kannada to receive ICMR approval for COVID-19 testing. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled (Yen-Net, 24×7), digitally equipped, and home to an internationally standard sports complex.
