What the BAMS Curriculum Covers
As per NCISM's prescribed BAMS curriculum, students study Ashtanga Ayurveda - the eight classical clinical specialties: Kayachikitsa (internal medicine), Shalya Tantra (surgery), Shalakya Tantra (ENT, ophthalmology, and dentistry), Kaumarabhritya (paediatrics), Agada Tantra (toxicology), Bhuta Vidya, Rasayana, and Vajikarana - alongside foundational subjects like Rachana Sharira (anatomy), Kriya Sharira (physiology), Dravyaguna, and Rasashastra. Clinical training begins from the first professional year onward and intensifies through OPD, IPD, operation theatre, labour room, and Panchakarma therapy room postings during the third professional year and internship.
