Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) — Training School / Student's Corner Admissions

Admission Process Overview

Below is the complete admission information including eligible exams, eligibility criteria, admission process, and important notes for each program offered.

Required Entrance Exams

GATE (valid GATE-2024/2025/2026 score in the relevant paper/subject) OR BARC Online Screening Test/CBT

Eligibility Criteria
BE/B.Tech/M.Sc. in an eligible discipline with minimum 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA, no backlog; maximum age 26 (General) / 29 (OBC) / 31 (SC/ST/PwBD) as on 01.08.2026
Admission Process
Apply online at barcocesexam.in during the notified window → Correction window → Screening via GATE score or CBT (held 14–15 March for the 2026 cycle) → Selection Interview → Merit-based allotment of training-school discipline and DAE unit → Appointment as Trainee Scientific Officer (OCES) or DGFS Fellow

Important Notice

OCES-2026/DGFS-2026 notification released mid-December 2025; online application window 22 December 2025 – 21 January 2026, with a correction window 07–14 February 2026 and the Online Screening Examination/CBT held on 14–15 March 2026 (source: barc.gov.in via careerpower.in, indgovtjobs.in, msn.com/PTI, engineering.careers360.com — cross-checked and consistent; one lower-quality secondary source quoted a 26 Dec–30 Jan window, which conflicts with the majority of verified reporting and BARC's own admit-card/exam-date schedule, so that figure was not used). Exact dates for future cycles must be reconfirmed on barc.gov.in as they are notified afresh each year. There is no fixed vacancy number or discipline-wise seat matrix published — intake depends on BARC Training School capacity and DAE's programme needs each year.

Required Entrance Exams

College-nominated application (no entrance test)

Eligibility Criteria
BE/B.Tech (post 5th semester), M.E./M.Tech (post 1st semester), B.Sc. (post 5th semester), M.Sc. (post 1st semester); min. 60% marks, no backlog
Admission Process
College forwards a prescribed-format letter (max. 3 students per discipline) with student resumes and mark-sheets to HRDD, BARC → HRDD screens and forwards to the concerned BARC Department → Competent Authority approval → Acceptance letter emailed → I-Card processing (approx. 1 week) → Trainee reports for Practical Training/Project Work

Important Notice

For UG/PG Practical Training and Project Work (not a degree-granting admission). Applications not in the prescribed format are rejected. Query email: hrddptpw@barc.gov.in.

Required Entrance Exams

GATE / NET / CSIR-JRF or HBNI-specific selection (for Ph.D. registration)

Eligibility Criteria
