About College of Medicine and JNM Hospital, Kalyani, Nadia

College of Medicine and JNM Hospital (COMJNMH), popularly known as Kalyani Medical College, is a government medical institution established in 2009 and first registered with the Medical Council of India (MCI) in 2010. The college is a constituent institution of the West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS), making it unique among government medical colleges in West Bengal โ€“ both the college and the hospital are directly funded and managed by WBUHS and the Government of West Bengal. Affiliated to WBUHS and recognised by the NMC, COMJNMH is located on a sprawling 76.3-acre campus in Kalyani, Nadia district, approximately 40โ€“50 km north of Kolkata, adjacent to the Kalyani Shilpanchal Railway Station. The college admits 125 MBBS students annually and also offers MD, MS, DNB, BSc Nursing, GNM, ANM, and various paramedical diploma courses. The attached JNM Hospital (Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hospital) with over 450 teaching beds and additional emergency admissions serves as the primary clinical training ground. A second clinical campus โ€“ Gandhi Memorial Hospital โ€“ was added in 2013, further expanding clinical exposure. COMJNMH is notable for its modern infrastructure (relatively newer compared to other WB government medical colleges), smart classrooms, fully air-conditioned lecture theatres, state-of-the-art laboratories, and a well-stocked library. The campus includes a large playground and excellent hostel facilities. Its strategic location near Kalyani Shilpanchal Station (100 m) and Kalyani Railway Station (1.5 km) makes it one of the best-connected medical colleges in West Bengal.

College of Medicine and JNM Hospital offers students courses in different areas. Candidates can enroll in UG and PG programmes based on their interests and career goals. Admissions are offered based on merit or entrance exam performance.
