Dr. Kiran C. Patel Medical College and Research Institute (KMCRI), Bharuch, is a new Private Self-Finance Brownfield Medical College established in 2020 under the Gujarat Government's Health Policy 2016, on the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model. It is managed by Rudraksh Academy Private Limited (RAPL), Vadodara, with Dr. Kiran C. Patel as Chairperson and Shri Jagdishbhai D. Patel as Founder & CEO. The college is affiliated to Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat, and approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Under the Brownfield model, the Government of Gujarat has provided the New Civil Hospital Campus, Bharuch – including land, buildings, instruments, equipment, and hospital staff – on a 33-year lease to RAPL to establish and run a new medical college. The vision of the college is to be a distinguished leader in providing exemplary Medical Education, Clinical Research & Practice and service to community. KMCRI started with 150 MBBS seats in 2020 and increased capacity to 200 seats in 2022. It is the only medical college in Bharuch district, serving the healthcare and medical education needs of the rural and tribal populations of South Gujarat. The sprawling campus at the New Civil Hospital Campus, Bharuch, spans approximately 110 acres and features modern lecture halls, well-equipped labs, a digital library, hostels, and the General Hospital Bharuch (teaching hospital). KMCRI started in 2020; its first MBBS batch (2020-21) is expected to complete internship and graduate in 2025-26. As of 2025, placements have not formally commenced. Per Shiksha student review: 'Our college placement hasn't started yet because our first batch will be passing in 2025. Almost all students are going to get an internship in our college-affiliated hospital, Bharuch Civil.' Management Quota fee is ₹19.00 Lakhs/year (~₹85.50 Lakhs total). NRI Quota fee is ₹22.50 Lakhs/year (~₹1.01 Crore total). Note: For students admitted in earlier years (2020-24), the fee was lower: State Quota ₹6.85 Lakhs/year (total ~₹30.82 Lakhs, as confirmed by Shiksha). FRC fees apply to newly admitted batches each year. Hostel and mess are additional (~₹85,000/year approx.).
