The Telemedicine & Tele-Education Department was established at a cost of over ₹60 lakhs. It was inaugurated by former President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on 3rd April 2008. It relays academic programmes from institutions like Sri Ramachandra Medical College and L.V. Prasad Eye Institute.

Dr. PSIMS & RF is sponsored by the Siddhartha Academy of General & Technical Education, Vijayawada — established in 1975, running 18 educational institutions in Krishna District and Andhra Pradesh. The medical college is named after Late Dr. Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao, the Founder President who donated 31.32 acres of prime land on NH-16.

The college has PHC II – Veeravalli (12 km), PHC III – Agiripalli (18 km), PHC IV – Mustabada (15 km), and Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC) – Siddhartha Nagar (25 km) attached for rural and community medicine training.
