ESIC Medical College & Hospital, Basaidarapur received the Letter of Permission (LOP) from NMC for admitting the first batch of 50 MBBS students in AY 2025-26 — making 2025 the inauguration of the MBBS programme. Prior to this, the institute operated as ESI Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (ESI PGIMSR) offering only MD/MS PG courses since 2011. The hospital itself has been operational since 1971. The inaugural MBBS intake is 50 seats. The MBBS programme runs in the same 600-bed multi-specialty hospital campus.

ESIC Medical College (being a Central Government institution under Ministry of Labour) does NOT impose a formal compulsory rural service bond like most state government colleges.
