About Government Medical College, Hingoli
Government Medical College, Hingoli (GMC Hingoli) is the first and only government medical college in Hingoli district, Marathwada region of Maharashtra. Established in 2024, it received its NMC Letter of Permission on 03/10/2024 for 100 MBBS seats and admitted its first batch in AY 2024-25. GMC Hingoli is one of nine new government medical colleges inaugurated by the Government of Maharashtra in 2024, aimed at significantly expanding access to quality medical education in underserved districts of Marathwada and Vidarbha. Located within the District Civil Hospital Campus, Shree Nagar, Hingoli — 431513, the college is affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik, and approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC). It is administered by the Directorate of Medical Education & Research (DMER), Government of Maharashtra. The college features a modern curriculum based on NMC's Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) guidelines, well-equipped laboratories, a central library, lecture halls, and separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. The District Civil Hospital, Hingoli serves as the primary teaching hospital, offering clinical exposure across departments including General Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, OBG, Orthopaedics, Radiology, and Emergency Care. Hingoli district is known for its agricultural character, the famous Aundha Nagnath Jyotirlinga Temple — one of Maharashtra's twelve Jyotirlingas — and is part of the Marathwada region.
