Courses Offered at JIM Kanpur – MBA, MCA and BCA

Programme Overview

MBA (Master of Business Administration)

The MBA is a two-year, four-semester programme for graduates in any discipline who have secured at least 50% marks. In the first year, core courses cover management concepts and organisational behaviour, managerial economics, financial accounting, business statistics and analytics, marketing management, design thinking, business communication, human resource management, business research methods, corporate finance, operations management, quantitative techniques, digital marketing and e-commerce, and management information systems, along with IT skills labs and mini projects. In the second year students study strategic management, innovation and entrepreneurship, and universal human values, and choose electives in Human Resource Management, Marketing or Finance. Semester three includes a summer training project with viva voce, and semester four includes a research project report. The total programme fee for the 2026-28 batch is Rs. 2,05,000 as per the official fee structure.

MCA (Master of Computer Applications)

The MCA is a two-year full-time programme open to graduates with at least 50% marks and Mathematics at the 10+2 or graduation level. The programme builds an analytical and computer science foundation in the first year and aims to develop leadership, analytical reasoning and clear communication. Core courses in the first year teach fundamental computing and management functions and show how technology integrates into business environments, and the institute reports that 67% of MCA students passed with distinction and 79% with first class. The total programme fee for the 2026-28 batch is Rs. 1,55,000.

BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications)

The BCA is a three-year undergraduate programme that builds a foundation in software programming, database management systems, computer networks and web development. It combines theory with laboratory work, software projects and industry internships, and prepares students for roles in software development, technical support and web design, or for higher studies such as MCA. The total programme fee for the 2026-29 session is Rs. 1,62,300, payable in three instalments of Rs. 54,100, and the external examination fee of Rs. 7,500 per year is paid directly to AKTU.

Short-Term and Skill Programmes

Alongside the degree programmes, JIM offers short-term courses including a Digital Marketing course, a Digital Marketing with AI and International Agri-Trade Certification course, and a Family Business and Sustainable Entrepreneurship Programme. Students can also take NISM training programmes and NPTEL courses through the SWAYAM-NPTEL Local Chapter.
