KSHEMA has 250 NMC-approved MBBS seats. ALL seats are filled through MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) Deemed University Counselling — there are NO KEA Karnataka state quota seats. Candidates must register at mcc.nic.in under 'Deemed University' category. All-India and non-Karnataka candidates are equally eligible.

KSHEMA offers 136 PG seats across 21 MD/MS specialties including high-demand clinical specialties (General Medicine 17, Anaesthesiology 16, Surgery 12, Orthopaedics 9, Paediatrics 9, OBG 6, Ophthalmology 6, ENT 8, Radio Diagnosis 8, Dermatology 5, Psychiatry 5) and basic sciences (Anatomy 4, Physiology 4, Biochemistry 3, Microbiology 3, Pathology 5, Pharmacology 5, Community Medicine 5, Forensic Medicine 4, TB & Respiratory 2). Super Specialty: MCh Urology (3 seats) via NEET SS.

Late Justice Kumaraswamy Subbayya Hegde (1909–1990) was a highly distinguished jurist and parliamentarian — Judge of the Supreme Court of India and Speaker of the Lok Sabha. He founded the Nitte Education Trust in 1979, which today runs 20+ professional colleges under NITTE University. KSHEMA was named in his honour in 2009.
