Kokrajhar Medical College and Hospital (KMCH), located at Rangalikhata, Besorgaon, Kokrajhar BTR, Assam – 783370, is the first government medical college in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and the 10th government medical college in Assam. Foundation stone: 6 January 2019 (Hagrama BTC govt + CM Sarbananda Sonowal). NMC inspection: 31 Jan 2023. LOI: 14 Feb 2023. LOP: 22 Feb 2023. Inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on 14 April 2023 (virtually, along with AIIMS Guwahati and 2 other medical colleges). First MBBS batch: 1 September 2023 (AY 2023-24). First Principal: Dr. (Prof.) Atul Chandra Baro. Affiliated with SSUHS; NMC approved. 100 MBBS seats. Approximately 23 departments (pre-clinical, para-clinical, and clinical). Hospital: 500-bed multi-specialty — 60 ICU beds, modular OTs, Dialysis Unit, Blood Centre, ART Unit, advanced diagnostic labs. Kokrajhar Cancer Centre (100 beds, Tata Trust + Assam Govt) within campus — unique oncology facility. Academic block: skill lab, 3 smart classrooms, central library, gymnasium, dissection hall, museum, examination hall. Boys hostel: 231 capacity; Girls hostel: 154 capacity.
