RMC was founded in 1979 by the late Sri Muddaiah Siddaiah Ramaiah (M.S. Ramaiah) — a visionary philanthropist, entrepreneur, and educationist from Karnataka. Sri M.S. Ramaiah established the Gokula Education Foundation Trust, which built one of Bengaluru's most iconic 70-acre multi-disciplinary educational campuses in Mathikere, housing 21+ institutions including MSRIT (Ramaiah Institute of Technology), RMC, RUAS, Ramaiah College of Pharmacy, and others.
RMC was affiliated to RGUHS till AY 2021-22. From AY 2022-23 onwards, it became a Constituent College of Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) — a private university established with Government of Karnataka approval. Degrees from 2022-23 onwards are issued by RUAS. However, seat allotment for MBBS/MD/MS is still conducted by KEA Karnataka; DM/MCh by MCC. There are NO direct admissions.
150 MBBS seats; 158 MD/MS PG seats in 22 departments; 50 DM/MCh Super Specialty seats in 12 specialties (DM Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Medical Oncology; MCh Urology, Neurosurgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Surgical Oncology). This makes RMC one of Karnataka's most comprehensive private medical colleges for post-graduate and super-specialty training.
