Recognitions and Regulatory Approvals – Mahaganapati AMC Dharwad

NCISM Approval

Mahaganapati AMC is approved by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) under Institution ID AYU0069. The NCISM annual permission letter for AY 2025-26 is published on the official college website (mahagamc.com/notice/ncism-permission-2025-26/). NCISM, established under the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine Act, 2020, is the apex statutory regulatory body for Ayurvedic medical education in India, replacing CCIM in regulatory functions.

CCIM Recognition

The Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), New Delhi, has recognized Mahaganapati AMC. CCIM recognition is a prerequisite for RGUHS affiliation and validates the academic standing of the BAMS programme, enabling graduates to register with state Ayurvedic medical councils and practice across India.

Ministry of AYUSH and Government of Karnataka

The college and hospital are recognized by the Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi, and separately approved by the Government of Karnataka. These dual recognitions are prerequisites for inclusion in KEA's AYUSH counselling process and make the institution's graduates eligible for Karnataka State PSC and central government AYUSH Medical Officer recruitment.

RGUHS Affiliation

Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore, governs the curriculum, professional examinations, and degree conferral for the BAMS programme at Mahaganapati AMC. The affiliation was transferred from Karnataka University, Dharwad, to RGUHS in 1996 when RGUHS was established as the apex health sciences university for Karnataka. The Ayurvedacharya (BAMS) degree awarded by RGUHS is recognized nationally for employment, registration, and higher education purposes.
