About National Institute of Technology Delhi
National Institute of Technology Delhi (NIT Delhi / NITD) is one of the 31 prestigious National Institutes of Technology in India, established in 2010 under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, through an Act of Parliament. Declared an Institute of National Importance, NIT Delhi is an autonomous institution committed to providing high-quality technical education and fostering cutting-edge research in engineering, science, and technology. Strategically located in the capital city of New Delhi, NIT Delhi operates from its purpose-built permanent campus on GT Karnal Road, Narela — a facility it fully moved into in February 2022 after operating from temporary sites in Dwarka (2012) and the IAMR Campus, Narela (2014). NIT Delhi began its academic journey in 2010 with three B.Tech programmes in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), and Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), initially under the mentorship of NIT Warangal. Over the years it has expanded significantly to offer B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, VLSI Design and Technology, Aerospace Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (introduced 2023). The total B.Tech intake is approximately 360 seats (60 per branch for most branches). M.Tech programmes in ECE, CSE (Analytics), EEE (PES), EEE (PED), CAD/CAM, and Mathematics and Computing (MAC) are offered with 15–18 seats each. A Ph.D. programme commenced in January 2014. MCA (Master of Computer Applications) is also offered, admitted via NIMCET. The permanent campus features a Mini-Campus with classrooms, laboratories, incubation suites (dedicated Startup Centre), Administrative Block, RFID-enabled Central Library (relocated to permanent site 2022), high-bandwidth Computer Centre, Wi-Fi-enabled hostels with indoor gym, a health centre, guest house, canteen, and sports infrastructure covering cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, badminton and indoor games. Phase 1B — currently underway — will deliver a central academic building, an 800-seat hostel, staff quarters, and the Director's residence. Fee structure for B.Tech 2024-25 (per semester): General/OBC-NCL/EWS (family income > Rs. 5 lakh) — Tuition Rs. 62,500 + Institute Fees Rs. 18,300 + One-Time fees Rs. 23,700 = approx Rs. 1,04,500 (first semester); subsequent semesters approx Rs. 80,800. Hostel: Non-AC Rs. 18,000/semester; AC Rs. 28,000/semester; Mess charges Rs. 3,800/month. Total B.Tech (4 years, Gen): approx Rs. 6.5–7 lakh including hostel.
