Frequently Asked Questions
NEIAFMR (North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Folk Medicine Research), Pasighat, is the only national autonomous institute under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, that uniquely combines Ayurveda academic education with an apex research mandate in Folk Medicine and Local Health Traditions of the North Eastern region. Established in 2008 (earlier as NEIFM), it was renamed in 2021 after incorporating BAMS degree courses. Its 40-acre campus in biodiversity-rich Arunachal Pradesh gives students unparalleled access to medicinal plant resources and indigenous healing knowledge not found anywhere else in India.
The BAMS course at NEIAFMR is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University, a Central University located at Rono Hills, Doimukh, Papum Pare District, Arunachal Pradesh. The course is regulated by NCISM (National Commission for Indian System of Medicine), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, and approved by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
As clearly stated in the official Admission Brochure 2024-25, NEIAFMR presently has no arrangements for hostel accommodation. Students must arrange private accommodation in Pasighat town. The campus does have a Guest House for visiting faculty and guests. Students planning to join NEIAFMR should make accommodation arrangements in advance, as Pasighat is a small but well-connected town.
The total fee for 1st Professional BAMS (covering 18 months) is Rs. 42,100, as published in the official Admission Brochure and Mandate Form 2024-25. This includes: Admission fee (one-time) Rs.3,000; Caution money (refundable, one-time) Rs.5,000; Bulletin/Magazines (one-time) Rs.1,000; Educational tour (one-time) Rs.2,000; Tuition fee @Rs.1,250/month Rs.22,500; Book bank fee Rs.1,500; Sports/Gym fee Rs.1,500; Lab/Hospital fee Rs.1,500; Library fee Rs.1,500; Departmental, Computer & Internet fee Rs.2,250; University Registration fee Rs.350. From 2nd year onwards, the one-time charges do not apply, making the recurring annual fee approximately Rs.31,100. This is one of the lowest fee structures for any BAMS programme in India, given its government autonomous status.
