DBAET's SBG Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital is set on a 10-acre campus in Ganeshpur, Belgavi — one of the more spacious campuses for a single-programme Ayurvedic college of 60-seat annual intake, and notably located within city limits rather than on a peripheral plot. The campus hosts the teaching hospital (est. 2017), academic blocks with 13 departments, hostel facilities for both boys and girls, a herbal garden, sports grounds, and support infrastructure including a library and digital library. The college's approach to campus development reflects a deliberate sequencing: building a functional hospital before launching the academic programme ensures that infrastructure maturity, rather than infrastructure aspiration, defines the student experience from year one.

Campus Infrastructure

Campus Infrastructure & Facilities

Attached Hospital (8 OPDs, 60-Bed IPD)

A fully operational Ayurvedic teaching hospital with 8 specialty OPDs and a 60-bedded in-patient department with separate male and female wards. Equipped with an operation theatre, labour room, pharmacy, diagnostic unit (laboratory, X-ray, ECG), and 24x7 nursing and RMO coverage.

Panchakarma Therapy Unit

Dedicated and separate male and female Panchakarma therapy units within the hospital, used for both authentic patient treatment and hands-on student clinical training in classical Ayurvedic detoxification and rejuvenation procedures.

Departmental Laboratories & Museums

13 departments with well-equipped laboratories and specimen museums. Labs support investigations in haematology, serology, biochemistry, and microbiology. Each department museum contains models, charts, specimens, and teaching aids for practical learning.

Dissection Hall

A spacious dissection hall with adequate lighting, exhaust fans, and washbasins. Equipped with a preservation room containing 2 cadaver storage tanks, providing each student batch with a fresh cadaver for dissection study.

Library & Digital Library

A central library with approximately 3,000 Ayurvedic and modern medical books, various Ayurvedic and modern medical journals, magazines, and newspapers. Open 10 am to 5 pm on all college working days. A digital library with internet access is available alongside the physical collection.

Herbal Garden

A dedicated herbal garden with 250 plants spanning 150 medicinal species including Haritaki, Maricha, Karavira, Eranda, and Guduchi. Provides students direct botanical exposure for Dravyaguna practical study and formulation preparation.

Campus Facilities at SBG Ayurveda College: Hospital-First Infrastructure on a 10-Acre City Campus

Teaching Hospital: 60-Bed IPD, 8 OPDs, Operation Theatre

The SBG teaching hospital — the functional core of the college's clinical training infrastructure — operates 8 specialty OPDs and a 60-bedded IPD with separate male and female wards. The hospital is equipped beyond the minimum teaching hospital specification: it includes a dedicated operation theatre, a labour room for obstetric training, a yoga hall for integrated wellness management, a full pharmacy, and a diagnostic unit covering laboratory (haematology, serology, biochemistry, microbiology), X-ray, and ECG. Separate male and female Panchakarma therapy units complete the specialist treatment infrastructure. The hospital maintains 24x7 qualified RMO and nursing coverage, meaning students gain exposure to emergency and overnight in-patient care alongside regular OPD and elective case experience.

Academic Departments: 13 Departments, Each With Museum and Laboratory

SBG's 13 academic departments are a specific, verifiable infrastructure claim worth noting: NCISM norms for a 60-seat BAMS college require a defined minimum department count, and SBG's 13-department structure represents a broader departmental infrastructure than smaller Ayurvedic colleges tend to maintain. Each department is equipped with a laboratory for practical work and a museum of specimens, models, and charts. The Rachana Shareera (anatomy) department specifically maintains a dedicated dissection hall with a preservation room containing 2 cadaver storage tanks, ensuring individual batch dissection experience rather than observation-only anatomy training.

Hostel Facilities: 50 Rooms Each for Boys and Girls

SBG operates separate hostel blocks for male and female students, each with 50 rooms — a total of 100 furnished rooms across both hostels. Room furnishing is detailed and specific: each room includes a wardrobe, cot, bookshelf, study table with chair, fan, and an attached bathroom. Security infrastructure includes CCTV cameras monitored by the Principal and hostel warden. On each wing, gas stove and refrigerator access is provided for resident students. Given that the campus is within city limits, hostel students also benefit from proximity to city markets, pharmacies, eateries, and other urban amenities — unlike outstation hostels in isolated campuses that require dedicated transport for basic city access.
