About Amrita School of Medicine
Amrita School of Medicine (ASM), Elamkara, Kochi — also known as Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) — is a premier private medical institution founded in 2002 by Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, a globally revered spiritual leader and humanitarian. It is a constituent school of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (NAAC A++), one of India's top-ranked private deemed universities. The campus occupies a 25-acre eco-friendly, plastic-free, Wi-Fi-enabled site at Ponekkara, Elamkara, Kochi, adjacent to Amrita Hospital — one of the largest private multi-specialty hospitals in Asia, founded in 1998. The 12-storied school building has a total floor area of 1,20,000 sq. ft. ASM offers 150 MBBS seats annually (100% via MCC All India counselling — no management quota), PG MD/MS courses in 27 clinical and non-clinical departments (117 seats), and Super Specialty DM/MCh courses in 21 departments. It is ranked 9th Best Medical College in India by NIRF 2025, 2nd by IIRF 2025, and 6th by NIRF 2023.
