About NAMO Medical Education and Research Institute
NAMO Medical Education and Research Institute (NAMO MERI), Silvassa is a government medical college established in 2019 under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. It is administered by the U.T. Administration of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (DNH & DD), making it a unique Union Territory-run government medical college — one of very few such institutions in India. The college is affiliated with Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU), Surat, and approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC). NAMO MERI was launched with the objective of delivering high-quality, affordable medical education to the underserved Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli — a region formerly under Portuguese rule. The college campus is spread over a 20-acre lush green area on Sayli Road, Silvassa, and houses a modern medical college building, central library, residential quarters for faculty, boys' hostel, girls' hostel, and an intern hostel. The campus features smart classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, and a beautiful natural environment. The annual MBBS intake is 177 students — one of the largest UT-run medical colleges in India. The institute is associated with the Shri Vinoba Bhave Civil Hospital (VBCH), Silvassa — a 650-bed multi-specialty government hospital (to be upgraded to 1250 beds) that was originally established in 1952 as a Cottage Hospital and has grown into the primary tertiary care centre for DNH & DD. The hospital offers a comprehensive range of OPD and specialist services including General Medicine, Surgery, ENT, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Neurosurgery, Dental, and more. NAMO MERI also has an associated College of Nursing (svbcondnh.in). The MBBS fee structure is exceptionally affordable — only ₹25,000/year tuition for DNH & DD domicile students and ₹50,000/year for outside (non-UT) candidates, making it one of the most affordable MBBS programmes in India.
NAMO Medical Education and Research Institute offers students courses in different areas. Candidates can enroll in UG and PG programmes based on their interests and career goals. Admissions are offered based on merit or entrance exam performance. Check below the NAMO Medical Education and Research Institute courses along with their tuition fees and eligibility criteria:
