One of the most important things to understand about VIPS's admission process is that it is not a single process - it is six different processes running in parallel, one for each major discipline the institution offers. Engineering admissions run through JEE Main and IPU CET counselling; law admissions run through CLAT; MCA admissions through NIMCET; journalism and management admissions through IPU CET. This multi-entrance-exam landscape makes VIPS a genuinely unique institution in that students from different competitive exam backgrounds all converge on the same campus - engineering students who cracked JEE Main sitting alongside law students who cleared CLAT and journalism students who qualified IPU CET's media stream.

B.Tech Cutoff at VIPS Delhi
VIPS's B.Tech admission cutoff ranks are more accessible than MAIT or MSIT for most branches, reflecting its position as a multi-disciplinary institution where engineering is one of several flagship offerings rather than the singular focus. This means students with JEE Main scores in the 70–80 percentile range who have not secured a seat at MAIT or MSIT should seriously evaluate VIPS B.Tech as a strong option. The institution's NAAC 'A++' accreditation applies to the entire institution including its engineering department, and B.Tech students at VIPS share the same campus and many of the same facilities as law and management students - a cross-disciplinary environment that adds genuine value.
| Branch | Exam | Home State Range | Other State Range |
|---|---|---|---|
| CSE | JEE Main | 2,00,189 – 13,87,105 | 86,116 – 11,22,911 |
| IT | JEE Main | Higher range | Higher range |
| B.Tech (All) | IPU CET | Up to ~14,44,230 | More competitive |
Law (BA LLB / BBA LLB) Cutoff
VIPS's law programmes are significantly more competitive at admission than its engineering programmes - a reversal of the usual private college hierarchy. The BA LLB and BBA LLB programmes have IPU CET cutoffs ranging from approximately 2,700 to 58,398, making them accessible to students with strong but not exceptional CLAT scores. Given VIPS's law ranking (top 25 nationally per India Today 2025), this represents exceptional value - students can access a nationally recognised law education at an admission cutoff that falls well below many lower-ranked law colleges in Delhi and elsewhere.
CUET Scores and Open Seats
For some programmes - particularly B.Com, BBA, and BA - VIPS uses CUET (Common University Entrance Test) scores to fill seats that remain vacant after the primary GGSIPU CET merit list is exhausted. This creates an additional admission pathway for students who have strong CUET scores but did not rank well in IPU CET. Students should monitor VIPS's official notice board and GGSIPU's counselling portal for announcements about CUET-based admissions, which are typically communicated in August after the main rounds close.
