JIS University admits students to B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering through WBJEE and JEE Main ranks as well as through its own JIS University Entrance Test. The only cut-off data that the university has published in its mandatory disclosure is for the 2025 session of the B.Tech CSE programme. These ranks show the lowest and the highest ranks of the students who were admitted, and they are useful for judging the chances of admission in coming sessions.

WBJEE and JEE Main Cutoff at JIS University, Kolkata
| Exam | Programme | Opening Rank | Closing Rank | Session |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| WBJEE | B.Tech CSE | 456 | 83,844 | 2025 |
| JEE Main | B.Tech CSE | 2,220 | 4,89,765 | 2025 |
The very wide gap between the opening and closing ranks shows that the programme admits students across a broad range of ranks. A candidate with a rank close to the opening rank would be among the toppers of the admitted batch, while a rank near the closing figure would still secure a seat. These numbers are not category-wise, and they include all categories together, so reserved category candidates should contact the admission office for category-specific information.
The university has not published cut-off data for B.Pharm, MBA, BBA, LLB or science programmes. For these, admission is mainly based on the JIS University Entrance Test and on the marks scored in the qualifying examination. B.Pharm candidates entering through WBJEE are admitted through the counselling process of the state, and their allotment depends on the rank, the choices filled and the number of seats available in that round.
- B.Tech CSE intake: 120 seats, plus 12 lateral entry seats
- B.Pharm intake: 100 seats, plus 10 lateral entry seats
- Minimum marks: 60% in Class 12 science for B.Tech and B.Pharm
- WBJEE candidates need 45% in PCM or PCB as applicable
- JET is mandatory for admission through the university's own route
Cut-offs vary from year to year with the number of applicants, the difficulty of the examination, the number of seats and the popularity of the programme. A candidate should therefore use the 2025 ranks only as a guide and keep other options ready. Checking the official counselling notices of WBJEE and the notices on the JIS University website is the best way to know the current position. For more details, see the admission process.
Candidates who do not qualify through WBJEE or JEE Main can still apply through the JIS University Entrance Test, which the website lists for 22 August 2026. Preparing for the exam in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics improves the chances for all routes. For more details, see the cutoff page.
