Admission to undergraduate programmes at Vignan's Foundation for Science, Technology and Research is merit based and is built around the Vignan Scholastic Aptitude Test, known as V-SAT. The V-SAT is an online test conducted by the university on an all-India basis, and its pattern mirrors that of JEE Main and EAPCET, with sample papers available for practice on the official website. Candidates who already hold qualifying JEE Main, JEE Advanced or AP and TS EAPCET scores can also be considered for admission without depending only on the V-SAT.

Admission Process at VFSTR Guntur
To be eligible for the V-SAT, a candidate must have been born on or after 1 July 2005 and must have passed Intermediate or an equivalent examination with a minimum of 60 percent aggregate marks. Students who are awaiting their qualifying results can apply in many cases, provided they meet the cut-off once results are declared. Applications are submitted online through the admission portal, and the V-SAT is normally held in several windows between January and April, which lets candidates attempt the test more than once and use their best score.
- Register and pay the application fee on the official admission portal
- Appear for V-SAT or submit valid JEE Main, JEE Advanced or EAPCET scores
- Check the merit list and scholarship allotment issued by the university
- Attend counselling at the Vadlamudi campus with original documents
- Pay the admission fee and first-year tuition fee to confirm the seat
- Complete hostel registration if residential accommodation is needed
Postgraduate admissions follow programme-specific rules. M.Tech candidates need a valid GATE, PGECET or VUGATE score with at least 50 percent in the qualifying degree, and students with very high marks in B.Tech can also qualify. MBA candidates need 55 percent in any bachelor's degree along with an ICET, MAT or CAT score, or a written test followed by group discussion and personal interview. MCA admission considers ICET ranks below 5,000 with above 60 percent marks, or above 80 percent in the qualifying exam. M.A English and M.Sc Chemistry rely on a written test and interview conducted by the university, and Ph.D admissions require a relevant postgraduate or engineering qualification with at least 60 percent marks.
Documents commonly required at counselling include the Intermediate or Class 12 marks memo, Class 10 certificate, V-SAT, JEE or EAPCET rank card, transfer certificate, caste certificate for reserved category candidates, passport-size photographs and identity proof. Foreign nationals and overseas applicants can apply through the dedicated international admission portal, and lateral entry is available for diploma holders into the second year of B.Tech.
Applicants should keep in mind that scholarship seats are allotted on merit and on a first-come, first-served basis, so early registration and early counselling attendance improve the chances of getting a fee concession. Once the seat is accepted, the admission fee of Rs. 20,000 or Rs. 10,000, depending on the programme, is non-refundable. Candidates who wish to understand how competitive different entrance scores are can visit the cutoff trends page.
Those who want to compare costs can check the fee structure before taking a final decision.
